Slay is internet slang for “you did that really well,” like you looked amazing, nailed the performance, or handled the situation better than expected. It comes from earlier meanings of slay, but the modern vibe got turbocharged through LGBTQ and Black ballroom culture, then spread everywhere online. So when someone says “slay,” they are basically handing you a compliment badge, because apparently your self confidence needs a social media notification.
