Avocado toast is a meme term for the idea that “millennials waste money on trendy stuff” like expensive cafe breakfasts, usually dragged in to argue that people should save for bigger goals like buying a house. The roast part is that it is really just shorthand for cost-of-living frustration dressed up as a single, blurry villain you can point at.
