“Adopt me” is usually people jokingly asking someone to claim them as family on the internet, like, “pick me, you adopt me now.” The most common context is Roblox’s Adopt Me, so it turns into a trend of begging for pets, trades, or attention, even when nobody is actually adopting anyone. It is basically the social version of yelling “notice me,” but with more imaginary pets and less dignity.
