Slacktivism is when people back a cause online, like posting, liking, or signing a petition, but they do it in a low effort way that does not really cost them anything. It is activism for your thumbs, not your calendar, so critics call it performative. The joke is, the internet lets you feel like you are saving the world while you are still just sitting there.
