Metaverse is the idea of a shared, immersive online world where people hang out as avatars, usually using VR or AR, and sometimes buy stuff or do work inside the virtual space. It is basically “the internet, but you step into it,” and the pitch always sounds cooler than the reality, because companies keep treating it like a sequel when most of us are still on the same old browser.
