“Emotional damage” is a jokey way to say you got mentally wrecked, like you are shook and hurt inside, but packaged as meme catchphrase. The trend usually uses a clip where someone shouts it at the end of a video to make the punchline feel extra devastating. It is basically the internet’s sarcasm setting for feelings, because apparently we cannot just say “that was rough” anymore.
