clout

Clout means social influence, attention, or status, usually online, like how many people care what you say or do. If someone is “doing it for clout,” they are chasing followers, likes, and relevance, not necessarily the actual point of the thing. It is basically popularity with a cash register, except the receipt is the comments section.
